Water Play by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Horse Paintings #horsepainting #lauriepaceart #equineart

Water Play
28 x 56 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

A bit more whimsical with this one but I really liked the way the paint moved and literally I saw the horse. Subtle earth tones and suggestive paint paths create a harmonious balance for the eye.

Hurried on time today... painting is calling me.

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:18 KJV

Spring Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Spring
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by L Pace

Usually my paintings are bright and full of contrast. This morning's painting is thick and rich with energy contrast in the pulls of paint. Some of the paint is a quarter inch deep.  This will take until late March before it can ship, but this horse painting is available, along with others directly on my website, or visit my galleries for larger paintings.

Terry has been busy up in the garage. We have an attic space up there but only a tiny crawl space to get up there from the garage. Inside the house we have a huge walk up access to another attic area, but this one is special.  He intends to put a door in a room that backs up to this huge space and make this area a huge closet. It is actually large enough to be a full reading room or play room for a child. Not sure where he gets the strength to be up there right now as it is 28 degrees outside and a cold cold wind makes it feel like 12 degrees.

I am thankful this day for the extra special things that we seem to not realize we have in our lives....from tucked away hidden attic space, to the simple hand hold at the kitchen table this morning over oatmeal. Make those little things count extra big when you give thanks today.

Stop by my new website and register for my 'occasional' newsletter. I cannot even promise once a month but maybe every other month!

Vast Horse Painting #7, Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

VAST
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Here.

I love using left over palette. I have been working on a buffalo painting and of course these are some of the strongest colors in the painting and I had 'leftovers' on my palette.  There is a natural flow to both the color and the movement which is really neat to me as I rotated the canvas adding colors not really paying attention to the patterns or overlays. The composition is as strong as the single horse as a strong foundation behind the 'etching' of the horse.  Touches of Lavender, reds, oranges, mauves and turquoise season the painting.

9 x 12 inches, this freshly painted oil is Horse #7 in this years 100 Horses for $100, but please note NOT in 100 days.  These are so creative and magical to me as I paint them, I want to keep them fresh and unforced. This is a second series, with the first 100 horse series being released in summer 2012 and all 100 pieces sold.  I am thinking next year it may have to change for pricing to be adjusted up as well as the number completed.

Fun to collect.

Blue Range Abstract Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Blue Range
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Here.

This was part of the three paint from left over Acrylics as well. The colors are stronger and the layers are higher.  There is a tussle and a compromise with the color palette and the movement of the knife.

Compromise is something important in life as well... finding a compromise means adapting to the needs of someone else. A lesson open to the current generation is really stuck on the selfies. Growing away from self and opening your life and heart to serving others leads to happiness.

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1John 4:4

Settled In. Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Settled In
8 x 8 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Here.

I have been working on the Buffalo painting and will start posting my progress on it by Monday. These are small  equine paintings that are done with a palette knife that I did this week. I hope you enjoy them.

This is another horse painting that evolved from a layer of left over acrylics... dried and then layering of the same colors in oils and then the horse.  Isn't that what our lives are about? Layering of experience in making up who we are?

Do we really ever get settled into life?  Seems like we are always wanting more, waiting for things to change, hoping tomorrow is better, when in reality we only have this moment at this time to find our joy.

Meadow Gaze by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Meadow Gaze
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available

This started with an acrylic base of left over paint from Tuesday night. It was dry and I began to layer on oils to match the formation of the acrylic and then I began to see the horse standing so silently in the meadow with a ray of light shining on him.

What is not to love about painting... the color, the energy and the delight of creating.  Sharing part of my creativity is really sharing the gift that God blessed me with.  I am enjoying these small pieces again and hope one finds its way into your heart.

Whirlwind Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Whirlwind
24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available by clicking here.

Reposting this one. It is dry and ready to travel to a new home. It was painted in early January and had been sketched on the canvas for about six months before I finally painted it.  Laced with color, contrast, thick paint and lots of energy, this unusual horse painting is ready to take off with your heart.

Yesterday was Stacey's birthday... my daughter turning 37. We had a girl day at the salon with highlights, cuts and the works. Even Lady L got to participate. Then it was a wonderful early birthday dinner with family for her special gathering and then back to our house for cake prepared by Kelly and Morgan.  It was a 'yummy' day and we are so blessed.

Needless to say, I did not step into the studio or down at my computer the entire day.  I have a new piece on the easel and tomorrow will post the beginning progress shots. It is a painting for a collector in Colorado of buffalos.

Storm at Sunset
9 x 12 inches Acrylic on Canvas.
$100
Available, email me.

With the changing of my life to a simpler time... yes I am TRYING to get there.  I am reverting back to painting more small pieces to loosen up a bit. I know I mentioned figurative but I have not found my courage to step out of my comfort zone.  So I am going to paint these smaller pieces about 8 x 10 and 9 x 12 and whatever I have on hand and allow you to fall in love with the spirit horse that beckons to your heart. So the first goal is 100 of them this year but not 100 in a row for 100 days!  The price will remain $100 and then $7.50 for shipping to you.

I have a new website launching hopefully this week and the horses will be on the site if they are available. I can do paypal or CC through the new site and STRIPE.

Cleaning up the studio today and realized I had finished this painting and never posted the final on it.  I am preparing to ship out pieces to galleries in Denver and Park City, Utah and then painting for my Lexington Gallery and my new Houston Gallery.  Finally warm temps after a long winter of cold cold. My creative juices are flowing again.

The Quest for Toby Keith Kid's Korral by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Contemporary Horse Paintings

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

On a Quest
36 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD
https://www.tobykeithfoundation.org

The name came to me as I pushed to this point. It has to be 'On a Quest'.  The energy and colors compiling on this contemporary horse painting give forth the energy of horses running... not running for their lives, but in quest.  They are on a quest. The journey is not a predictable one, but they are confident in what surround them and the herd that travels together.  With trust and love the journey is always easier, even in the hardest times. Having people not only lift you up but support you and surround you with their energy and love make all the difference in the world.

Here is something from Wikipedia on Toby Keith.  He and his wife are the people behind this wonderful foundation. This is about his beginnings in early life. You will see why Oklahoma and the people of Oklahoma are his extended family.

"Keith was born in Clinton, Oklahoma, the son of Carolyn Joan (née Ross) and Hubert K. Covel, Jr. He has a sister, Tonni, and a brother, Tracy. The family lived in Fort Smith, Arkansas, for a few years when Keith was in grade school, but moved to Moore, Oklahoma (a suburb of Oklahoma City) when he was still young. Before the family moved to Moore, he visited his grandmother in Fort Smith during the summers. His grandmother owned Billie Garner's Supper Club in Fort Smith, where Keith became interested in the musicians who came there to play. He did odd jobs around the supper club and started getting up on the bandstand to play with the band. He got his first guitar at the age of eight. After the family moved to Moore, Keith attended Highland West Junior High and Moore High School, where he played defensive end on the football team.

Keith graduated from Moore High School and worked as a derrick hand in the oil fields. He worked his way up to become an operation manager. At the age of 20, he and his friends Scott Webb, Keith Cory, David "Yogi" Vowell and Danny Smith, with a few others, formed the Easy Money Band, which played at local bars as he continued to work in the oil industry. At times, he would have to leave in the middle of a concert if he was paged to work in the oil field.

In 1982, the oil industry in Oklahoma began a rapid decline and Keith soon found himself unemployed. He fell back on his football training and played defensive end with the semi-pro Oklahoma City Drillers while continuing to perform with his band. (The Drillers were an unofficial farm club of the United States Football League's Oklahoma Outlaws; Keith tried out for the Outlaws but did not make the team.) He then returned to focus once again on music. His family and friends were doubtful he would succeed, but, in 1984, Easy Money began playing the honky tonk circuit in Oklahoma and Texas."   Wikipedia

This one does not need a frame, it is ready to hang.

This was a verse that really spoke to me this morning. Think about it when you read it.

"Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness. Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them." 1 John 2:9-11

Rustic Herd, Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Rustic Herd
24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available at Robert Kelly Home Gallery

I could not get a well lit image as darkness hit last night as I finished. I adjusted the lighting so here it is. This is one of my painted pony horizon herds heading to Park City Utah.  They ask for earth tones and they got earth tones. A little bit of jewel tones accent here and there on this contemporary Horse Painting.

"And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth." Genesis 1:17

Stacey and I downloaded the HGTV app for decorating and have had a blast finding our our personal styles along with over 200 home images to prompt creative decorating ideas. It is called FOLIO by HGTV.  We both recommend it.   I will try and keep some images coming on the blog as I strike out and do something different and more daring in my home decorating.
