  © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Spirit Gold
Oil on Canvas... SOLD

This was painted for a dear friend...and I put her spirit into the beauty of this Arabian.  She is a rare spirit among us... caring, giving, trusting and loving.  Always putting others first before herself. I love you Ann.

Taking Flight Contemporary Horse Painting in Progress by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

  © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Taking Flight
24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas. Coming Soon.

This is another canvas I have sketched on that has sat in the studio patiently waiting to be explored and painted.  Hopefully sometime this coming weekend I can paint again!  This wild horse is definitely jumping into the wind... it reminds me of our Paddy dog when he leaps.

When we leap in life... we must have faith.

In you, Lord my God, I put my trust.  Psalm 25:1

Two at the Raising Contemporary Abstract Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

  © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas.
To Purchase Painting Click Here.

This too was painted at my last workshop. I love the connectivity of this painting with the flow of line and movement, like the earth continually turning and the horses standing watching the sunrise and the moonrise... two together at the raising.  This is a pretty unique contemporary Abstract Horse Painting.

 "The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God."    John 1:9-13

Rope Dance, Cowboy Horse Cow Painting, Western Art by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

  © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Rope Dance 2007
30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas.

This one will be worked on this next week. I wanted to post it like it is and then I will repost the after I work it further. I went through a roping stage in 2007 and painted a few of these pieces in this series.  This was in the box with the 30 x 30 Appaloosa Painting I shared yesterday.  Lady L was quite taken with it and knew exactly what was happening. I guess it is good when a four year old 'gets' your painting.  Maybe I am on the right track after all.  This painting has its 'spirit'.

These are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.
The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.  1 Corinthians 2:10-11

Appy Fun Revisited from 2007 Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

  © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Appy Fun Revisited
30 x 30 inches Acrylic on Canvas.

The one thing about moving is discovering old horse paintings. This one was done in 2007 but it has such a cute feel to it... if you can say a painting is cute.  When I pulled it out of the box it was more WOW... I remember the day I painted this.  When we moved in 2007, I must have boxed some of these up and I just found the box... what six years later?  I am sure it shows up on Daily Painters somewhere...but it is available if you like.  It truly reminds me of love and joy because the Appaloosa looks that dorky happy!

I have NOT decided what to do with it yet... Will have it hang around a bit because I really like it like it is. A blast from the past.

Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.  Romans 15:7

Headstrong Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

  © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Headstrong
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD

This is an older horse painting from maybe 2010 era.  I still enjoy looking back to the steps that brought me to where I am today with my work. An artist grows and changes and learns through life and through practice. It is from the practice they gain the strength and experience. Learning to trust the inner Spirit is the hardest thing for any artists.

Tomorrow will be my first art lesson on this blog. All of the art lessons will be posted as well on my art lesson blog... as on this blog I will try to do one every Monday. That give you a few days to try it out, post your work to my blog and the practice for a few more days until the next lesson. See you in the morning.  Have a pencil and a sketch book and be ready.

My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight,
    preserve sound judgment and discretion;
 they will be life for you,
    an ornament to grace your neck.
 Then you will go on your way in safety,
    and your foot will not stumble.
When you lie down, you will not be afraid;
    when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Proverbs 3:21-24

Falling into Winter, Contemporary Abstract Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

  © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Falling into Winter
24 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD

The colors called me to weave into the background of this cool yet warm piece. The cool colors seem to dominate but the warm colors hold the composition together.  The four horses in this contemporary painting are part of the weave of the composition.

Our lives are all interwoven together. The company you chose to keep is part of the weave of the fabric of your life and your journey. Sometimes people come and go in a season in our lives and we ravel apart temporarily until we can knit back the fraying pieces.

 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
    fear the Lord and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body
    and nourishment to your bones. Proverbs 3:7-8

POST NOTE:  Just a few days away....On the 23rd of September will be my first posted lesson for art for adults. I am hoping to do it at least once a week.

Orange Horse Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

  © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Orange Horse
30 x 30 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD

I may have to revisit this color combination. It really was stunning in person. NOT this painting but the color palette used in the painting. I think the bottom layer was red acrylic and then the oils went on top of that allowing some red bleed through underneath.

What bleeds through in your life? We all have things we try to cover up and not let others see.  Embrace who you are and where you have been. Embrace those things that make you the person you are this day. God knows everything that has happened to you along your journey and if you heart is focused on Him, He will make straight your path in life. He uses all to His good in your growth. If you were not challenged by things you would not learn to be strong.  You would not gain wisdom.

For the Lord gives wisdom;
    from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
 He holds success in store for the upright,
    he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
 for he guards the course of the just
    and protects the way of his faithful ones. Proverbs 2:6-8

Epsilon Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

  © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Epsilon
28 x 42 inches Acrylic on Canvas. Available.

This painting is in Santa Fe at a gallery. It is another layered painting with much personality built inside of each layers. There are two horses in this contemporary painting.

Sometimes in life we are overwhelmed by everything compiling on top of us.  This painting reminds me of that because there is so much action going on around the two horses and one horse is ducking down behind the other horse... as if taking cover.   Do you ever feel that way in life that you need to take cover?  I always begin to do deep breathing and immediately close my eyes envisioning myself climbing up into God's arms in heaven. I hide my face in His chest, wanting Him to carry me and protect me.

Shout for joy, you heavens;
    rejoice, you earth;
    burst into song, you mountains!
For the Lord comforts his people
    and will have compassion on his afflicted ones. Isaiah 49:13

Direction Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

  © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Direction
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD

The colors seem to evolve on their own in this contemporary horse painting. You have a balance of blues and oranges complimenting each other as well as three colors on the color wheel, yellow, orange and red.

This is what the Lord says:

“In the time of my favor I will answer you,
    and in the day of salvation I will help you;
I will keep you and will make you
    to be a covenant for the people,
to restore the land
    and to reassign its desolate inheritances,
9 to say to the captives, ‘Come out,’
    and to those in darkness, ‘Be free.' Isaiah 49:8-9
