Blue Mist Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Blue Mist
 24 x 30  Oil on Canvas.

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

This is a painting completed last year. It is indeed available on my website with close up shots, and if you love it and want to make an offer, please email me. It is in my top ten favorite list for the past two years.  I have the photos I took as I worked on this baby and was looking at them yesterday and thought... how did I do it?  It is the Holy Spirit working for sure through my hands.  I often feel I am on a journey without knowing the destination. Having to just sit back and not try to control is always the hardest thing for me.

Horse 45 Northern Exposure Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Northern Exposure
Size: 8 x 10 inches     Oil on Canvas.

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

Color and contrast are the backbone of this fast moving pair or horses... to me they looked like they were flying across snow with a brilliant morning sun. Thoughts went to Alaska for some reason, hence the name Northern Exposure. Make sure you visit my available paintings and look at the close ups on this baby. The paint is really piled high in layers.

Sometimes life is that way too! The tree we planted a few weeks ago has shed most of it's leaves. The arborist says watch and maybe new ones will sprout but I am dubious on this one. This tree looks pretty done.

I imagine God spend time watching to see if we 'sprout' new leaves after our trials and temptations, or if we basically give up.

However, the Most High does not live in houses made by human hands. As the prophet says:   “‘Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.  What kind of house will you build for me? says the Lord.
Or where will my resting place be?  Has not my hand made all these things?’ Acts 7:48-50

Horse 44 Three Mares in the Pink of Things, Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Horse 44 Three Mares in the Pink of Things
8 x 8 inches Oil on Canvas.

Yeah there is 'girl' talk going on here. I debated only a few seconds on this one because I absolutely fell in love with the structure of the horses as they appeared to the paint. The motion of palette knife strokes and blends. The painting is different. The Painting is NOT the same. This piece is for a 'strong of heart' person.

Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail.  But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God. Acts 5: 38-39

Horse 43 After the Storm by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Contemporary Horse Paintings

Horse 43 After the Storm

8 x 10 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

Back in the studio after the Memorial Day Weekend. Terry has been helping me move things around so I can work better and enjoy the space. We hauled a lot of art things I was not using out and several cabinets.

The result this morning was me going in and working on several small pieces for this week. I had a request for a small painting in the same strong colors of Rocky Mountain Sunrise from last week. This is it. My tiny reflective version of the piece. I hope you enjoy this small horse painting as much as I did painting it, with a smile on my face.

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. Acts 20:24

Horse Painting 42 Herd of Painted Ponies by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Horse Painting 42
Herd of Painted Ponies
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

YUM... that is what I felt looking at this baby!  I love working with Carmel brown, now called Brown Pink. Never have found the 'pink' in it, but I love the color. So many small horses appeared in the background of this painting that it created a full herd.

Today is our wedding anniversary. Terry and I have been married forever... or it feels that way. When you have been with someone so long that your heart beats together and you know each other's mind as well as sensing the mood or thoughts... you know each other well. That would be 49 years of knowing each other.  A long time!

As I mentioned yesterday, we met in 1965. Seventh Grade, Lake Highlands Jr High School.

Our bowling date ... we were not doing much bowling in 1966.

This was a 'party' at Candy Moser's house.  It was after the games... twister and spin the bottle. Gotta love those brown pants with orange polka dots. He has on a paisley shirt.... we were something else.

We laugh looking at this picture. We had to dress up.  Terry borrowed a suit coat from my dad with a tie, and I was in my mom's purple dress with her pearls. It was our engagement picture in Spring 1991.

Then from the wedding album in May 1991.

All of our friends from high school were in our wedding in 1991.

We are blessed. Happy Anniversary dear Husband.

Horse Painting 41 Sun Breaking through the Rain by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Horse Painting 41
Sun Breaking through the Rain
8 x 10 inches Oil on Canvas Panel.

Colors were fun in this painted pony.  I actually got stuck working on it with the ice green I was using. There are not many colors that work well with it but the final result was stunning in person. Not sure this photograph does it justice.

Our anniversary is this weekend coming up... still trying to decide what to do since he is all casted up and unable to do much with his right hand.  Morgan and Kelly have their anniversary this weekend as well.  I thought about dinner at the Classic Cafe in Roanoke.  We did that last year and had a wonderful time.  Cannot really travel well like Terry is right now.  More about our anniversary on Sunday... that is the special day.  My brain is in overdrive thinking of things to do to make it special.

This man has been an inspiration to me, allowing me to stop teaching full time and be an artist full time.  We dropped a full time teaching salary from our income and yes, it took about two years before I had enough coming in to make it back up.  That was back in 1998. I fell in love with him back in the fall of 1964... knew him the year before, but it took a year of knowing him to know he was the 'him' I wanted to spend my life with. We were in seventh grade.  We are still good friends with most of our 'group' from way back then and feel really blessed.

The God of peace be with you all. Romans 15:33

Horse 40, Adventure by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Horse 40 Adventure
8 x 8 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

Every moment at the easel is an adventure. Some turn out better than others, but the best ones are the unexpected journeys where I do not try to control what is evolving on the surface.

The painting that was up yesterday came out of a scraped canvas... this small energetic piece came from some of the same colors that were left on my palette.  Hence the name 'adventure'.

May this day be an adventure for you.  Let Go and Let God.

Was watching an episode of "Calling the Midwife" on PBS several weeks ago and in one of the scenes a man said, "My Mother taught me when something knocks at the front door, you open it up and it blows in... and then you open the back door and let it blow right on out."  That sent shivers down my legs and arms.  From that day forward, every time I am consumed with a negative thought, a malady or situation that seems overbearing, I close my eyes and think, 'Open the door"... as I fill my lungs with a deep breath..."Now open the back door and let it blow straight through"...and I let the deep breath blow emptying my lungs.  With it goes the situation.  I would lie if I said it works every time... because sometimes I seem to run back to 'the front door" to let it blow back in again.

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. Hebrews 6:10

Rocky Mountain Sunrise Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Rocky Mountain Sunrise
32 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

Short short fast posting.   Terry had wrist surgery on Friday and I am doing the wife/nurse thing for the next two weeks. I will try and post on and off as I can and I hope to keep painting.

This painting was finished on Thursday. Personally I love it.  The strength and majesty of the stance of the horses and the colors just pull me straight into it.  I am debating on submitting this for a museum show in El Paso later this summer. Let me know your thoughts.

Horse 38 Under the Old Oak Tree by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Horse 39 Under the Old Oak Tree
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

The paint seem to travel in the left direction on this horse painting. The wrap of color in the purple on the left side was puzzling at first. There is a strong red pull diagonal through the painting.

When I first started carving the horses out, I only had the two. But I knew quickly the purple was a tree and living in Texas it had to be a Burr Oak Tree. They love the climate here.  Then the second horse appeared and I took pictures and sent them through Photoshop.  It was empty but I saw the rump of the third horse in the background.  Back to the easel for the addition of the third pony.  The paint is seriously layered on this painting. The texture is amazing on it's own.

So think of this painting as a hot summer day in Texas with horses gathering around the old oak tree in the pasture. You now know the spirit of the painting.

Terry and I are waiting for a delivery.  Not a new grandchild but a new tree for our front yard. The rains last week kept them from bringing it and planting it. Yes it is a Burr Oak. I seem to have trees and shade on my mind. The front porch heats up to 135 degrees in the afternoon sun and I am way done with that. We are putting up a natural shade barrier and I cannot wait for it to arrive.  Pictures will follow.

For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.  Romans 8:14
